THE MINES

The Kaolin mines are underground and each mine is made up of a main haulage gallery and upper levels, separated to each other approximately by 150 vertical m., to give service to the entrance of raw materials, ventilation and personnel. The extraction systems is by means of factories. Each factory is made up of "saw-tooth" shaped cuts. The digging is performed by first dynamiting the face to blast it. Later, the material falls by gravity to the drag gallery. Through a floodgate the wagons are loaded and the mineral is extracted to the outside, in order to transport it to the processing plant.
